Overdraft Protection

Home Federal Bank is committed to providing you with superior products and services and assisting you with making financial choices that serve your best interests and specific needs. Regulations require us to obtain your permission to cover overdrafts for your ATM or everyday debit card transactions. Examples of such transactions are ATM transfers and withdrawals, and purchases made with your debit card at gas stations, grocery stores, dining establishments and other merchants.

We will not be able to provide overdraft protection coverage automatically on your debit card transactions unless you tell us you want us to by Opting In. If you do not Opt In, ATM and everyday debit card transactions that would overdraw your account will generally be declined.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT OVERDRAFTS AND OVERDRAFT FEES

IMPORTANT INFORMATION about your HOME FEDERAL BANK checking account

An overdraft occurs when you do not have enough money in your account to cover a transaction, but we pay it anyway. We can cover your overdrafts in two different ways:

  • We have standard overdraft practices that come with your account.
  • We also offer overdraft protection plans, such as a link to another checking, savings or money market account, which may be less expensive than our standard overdraft practices. To learn more, ask about these plans at one of our convenient financial centers.

This notice explains our standard overdraft practices.

What are the standard overdraft practices that come with my account?
We do authorize and pay overdrafts for the following types of transactions:
Checks and other transactions made using your checking account number.
Automatic bill payments

We do not authorize and pay overdrafts for the following types of transactions unless you ask us to (see below):

  • ATM transactions
  • Everyday debit card transactions

We pay overdrafts at our discretion, which means we do not guarantee that we will always authorize and pay any type of transaction.

If we do not authorize and pay an overdraft, your transaction will be declined.

What fees will I be charged if Home Federal Bank pays my overdraft?
Under our standard overdraft practices:
We will charge you a fee of $35.00 for each time we pay an overdraft.
Also, we will charge you a continuous overdraft fee of $25.00 on the tenth consecutive day your account is overdrawn; if your account is overdrawn for more than ten consecutive days, we will charge an additional $25.00 every tenth day.

What if I want Home Federal Bank to authorize and pay overdrafts on my ATM and everyday debit card transactions?
